Folk Music of the U.S.S.R.
Various Artists
This album features music from 15 republics of the former Soviet Union, including selections from Central Asia, Ukraine, and the Caucasus. While regions have absorbed musical influences from neighboring cultures―in the south from Persia, in the east from China, for example―the music of each people has its own distinctive characteristics. Liner notes include maps and photo spreads on some of the states of the former Soviet Union featured in the album, as well as song lyrics in English, Russian, Armenian, and other regional languages.
