Mama Tried

On Mama Tried, D.C.-based harmonica master Mark Wenner teams up with Columbia, Missouri's electric blues band the BelAirs to offer an eclectic mix of blues-infused performances. Drawing from a wide scope of source material, Mama Tried features original compositions and new versions of songs from the likes of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Reed and more. Despite the range of songwriters, consistent throughout the record is Wenner's spirited blues-harp and luscious, gravelly singing, keeping the music firmly tied to its roots in the blues.
