Cajun Fais Do-Do

The music in “Cajun Fais Do-Do” is representative of music heard on radio station KEUN in Eunice, LA on Saturday mornings in the 1960s. Composed of Cajun two-step and waltz dance music, Cajun fais do-dos were first performed in the 1940s. Primarily performed by local musicians, the music is filled with vim and vigor and spiced with good humor and a little bourbon. Several important musicians emerged from these early performers including Nathan Abshire and Dewey Balfa. These performances were captured in field recordings made by Chris Strachwitz in May 1966.
