Hula Performance

The Halau 'O Kekuhi hula ensemble draws many of its dances from the mele of the Big Island, particularly chants to Pele, the volcano goddess. They are led by Pualani Kanaka'ole Kanahele and Nalani Kanaka'ole.

Korean Chang-go

Dong-wan Kim, of the Silk Road Ensemble, is a master of the traditional Korean chang-go. The chang-go is an hourglass drum that is the most widely played of all Korean instruments.

Pakarena Indonesian Court Dance

In this pakarena, two-headed drums (gandrang) and a double-reed oboe (puik-puik) accompany two dancers. It is now still occasionally performed at a variety of ceremonies.
