Sneak Preview: Dave Van Ronk - Down in Washington Square: The Smithsonian Folkways Collection

Called “the Mayor of MacDougal Street,” Dave Van Ronk (1936-2002) was a leading figure in the Greenwich Village music scene for more than four decades, and his autobiography inspired the upcoming Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. The new 3-CD set Down in Washington Square: The Smithsonian Folkways Collection paints a musical mosaic of Van Ronk’s artistry from early live recordings in 1958 to his final sessions in 2001, including 16 previously unreleased tracks.
