Smithsonian Folkways Trivia!
Each month we'll ask a trivia question; email your answer, name, and address with the subject "July Trivia" to SmithsonianFolkways@si.edu by July 31, 2011, and a randomly selected entrant with the correct answer will win a free CD of his or her choice!
July Question: Chip Taylor, who recorded the upcoming Smithsonian Folkways album Golden Kids Rules with his three granddaughters, wrote what song that was a chart-topping hit for The Troggs in 1966?
Congratulations to last month's winner, Gary from Dublin, Ca, who correctly answered “Cumbia” to the question: What style of music, originally performed on the Caribbean coast of Colombia with an accompanying courtship dance, has become one of the most popular Latin American genres worldwide? (Hint: The traditional variation is performed by Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto).
