Smithsonian Folkways Trivia!
Each month we'll ask a trivia question; email your answer, name, and address with the subject "April Trivia" to SmithsonianFolkways@si.edu by April 30, 2011, and a randomly selected entrant with the correct answer will win a free CD of his or her choice!
April Question: Union Admiral David Farragut, subject of the ballad “Farragut’s Ball” from Civil War Naval Songs, shouted what famous order during the 1864 Battle of Mobile Bay? (Hint—the phrase was re-used for the title of an acclaimed 1979 rock album.)
Congratulations to last month's winner, Irene from Vienna, Va, who correctly answered “Charlie Parker” to the question: Before becoming a jazz legend, this saxophonist first worked as a dishwasher at “Jimmie’s Chicken Shack” so that he could hear pianist Art Tatum perform.
