Smithsonian Folkways Trivia!
Each month we’ll ask a trivia question; email your answer with the subject "October Trivia" to smithsonianfolkways@si.edu by Monday, October 28th, 2008, and a randomly selected entrant with the correct answer will win a free CD of his or her choice!
October Question: This month's question comes from Richard Carlin, author of Worlds of Sound: The Story of Smithsonian Folkways and producer of several Smithsonian Folkways recordings: Which jazz pianist once quipped, "If you only burped, [Folkways] recorded it." (Hint: One of her recordings was among the nine Smithsonian Folkways albums included in the book 1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die).
Congratulations to last month's winner, Michael Brailove from Highland Park, NJ, who correctly answered "Reverend Gary Davis" to this question: What influential blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter once gave guitar lessons to Dave Van Ronk, Bob Weir, Jorma Kaukonen, and David Bromberg?
