Each year June brings the Smithsonian Folklife Festival to the National Mall, and Smithsonian Folkways and Smithsonian Global Sound will be part of the activities. This June we also celebrate a new Smithsonian Folkways release, Classic Piano Blues, the latest addition to the popular Classic series. SAVE ON SMITHSONIAN FOLKWAYS CDs AT THE FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL AND ONLINE
In addition to selling the music recordings of visiting Texan and Bhutanese artists, the Festival Marketplace tent on the Mall is the only place visitors can browse the entire collection of Smithsonian Folkways recordings (other than the website). If you are attending the Festival, stop by, say hi, and save between 10% and 20% on all Smithsonian Folkways CDs, including music from Texas and Bhutan!
You can also visit the new Smithsonian Folkways website and save 15% on all CDs when you enter the code FestivalFW08 during checkout. This discount is only valid during the Festival, so make sure to order by Sunday, July 6th!
You can now purchase Smithsonian Folkways recordings on CD or Digital Download format from the new Smithsonian Folkways website and from Smithsonian Global Sound. Digital Downloads come in your choice of MP3 or FLAC format, with no copy/burn restrictions, for $.99 per track or $9.99 for most albums.

NEW RELEASE: CLASSIC PIANO BLUES FROM SMITHSONIAN FOLKWAYS
On June 24, 2008, we will release the latest volume in the popular "Classic" series, which introduces audiences to the extensive collection of historic recordings in a variety of vernacular styles.
Featuring the best of Folkways founder Moses Asch's stunning blues recordings, Classic Piano Blues offers an enlightening presentation of piano blues music with performances from the genre's most popular artists, such as Lead Belly, Speckled Red, and Meade "Lux" Lewis.
