Kamsale pada - amma onna dumbi adu nano (Oh mother, I am a golden dragonfly in your hands)
Kamsale is folk dramatic singing and dance performance. It derives its name from the cymbal Kamsale which is regarded as a symbol of the folk deity Madesha. Kamsale is performed exclusively by males in the Mysore area of Karnataka. The story performed is Satyavante Sankamma or Truthful Sankamma - a part of the Madesha story. Sankamma was a beautiful woman who was barren and was made to suffer many indignities due to this by her husband and the community. She prays to Madesha addressed in the song as Madhappa to give her a child.
