I WOKE UP ONE MORNING IN MAY
Didier Hebert
Recorded New Orleans, LA: December 10, 1929
Didier Hebert, vocal and guitar.
Originally released on Columbia 40517F
Blind Louisiana guitarist Didier Hebert was the accompanist for accordion player Dewey Segura. Segura recorded three times, but only once with Hebert. According to Ann Savoy, Hebert met Segura at a dance and asked if he could come along to the New Orleans session. Of the four songs they performed on December 10, 1929, only this one featured Hebert as a soloist. Segura and Hebert continued to play together, but when Segura recorded again in June 1934, Hebert was not with him. (Folkways thanks to Ann Savoy for the above information.)
