LA DANSEUSE
Delma Lachney and Blind Uncle Gaspard

Recorded in Chicago: January 26, 1929
Delma Lachney, fiddle; Blind Uncle Gaspard, guitar
Originally released on Vocalion 5303

Delma Lachney (1896-1947) was from the area near Marksville, Louisiana. A left-handed fiddler, he was from a large family originally from Quebec. Alcide "Blind Uncle" Gaspard was from Avoyelles Parish and played in a string band with his brothers, Victor and Amade. Their largest venue was in American country music. Lachney and Gaspard did not usually play together and probably did not know each other well before the recording session. In addition to the Chicago session there was one other for Vocalion in New Orleans March 1929.  The song title translates as "The Dancer."

Contributed by:  Ann Savoy
