Children's Songs from Spain

Karen James and Isabelita Alonso FW07746 / FC 7746

Drawn from the Spanish provinces of Santander, Madrid, and La Mancha, this collection of children’s folk songs is as instructional in the Spanish language as it is entertaining. Isabelita Alonso and her daughter, Karen James, instruct children in vocalization through animal sounds and onomatopoetic percussive syllables. Alonso dedicates this album to American children eager to learn the Spanish language and explains that the “lessons” will carry through Latin American dialects as well. In keeping with the nature of children, these riddles, jingles, and tongue twisters are meant to be recited while skipping rope or hula-hooping.
