Emile Barnes: Early Recordings, Vol. 1 (1951) Dauphine Street Jam Session

Emile Barnes FW02857 / FJ 2857

These recordings were made in the summer of 1951, but were not issued until Folkways brought them out in 1983. They feature Emile "Mili" Barnes, whose unique style of clarinet playing sounds Creole one moment and soulfully bluesy the next. Composer Alden Ashforth’s extensive notes about the recording session accompany this fine album.
