Grand Texas

Cajun fiddler Murphy “Chuck” Guillory began performing as a child, playing with his father on Saturdays in Eunice, LA. While still a teenager, he formed his first band and played local dances. After military service, Guillory started to make recordings and in 1949 formed the Cajun band Rhythm Boys, who scored their first regional hit, “Big Texas,” in 1950 with Papa Cairo on vocals. Guillory later re-recorded the song as “Grand Texas.” In 1958, he disbanded the Rhythm Boys and became a grocer, although he continued to play occasional dances. In the 1980s he revived the Rhythm Boys. This collection contains recordings made during the 1980s as well as his earliest recordings from 1949.
